Understanding NSW Mobility Parking Permits
In Bondi, individuals can access disability parking permits through the NSW Mobility Parking Scheme. Two main permit types exist: the blue card for permanent disabilities, valid for five years, and the red card for temporary disabilities lasting up to six months. These permits unlock designated accessible parking spaces marked with the universal symbol of access throughout the area. The vehicle must be transporting the permit holder, and the permit must display correctly to avoid penalties reaching $550 for misuse.
Permit holders enjoy significant parking concessions across Bondi's metered and time-limited zones. While standard limits restrict parking to 30 minutes, permit holders can often stay for up to two hours without additional charges. However, these concessions don't apply in privately operated car parks like those behind Bondi Junction Westfield Shopping Centre. Understanding where your permit works is essential. Waverley Council maintains detailed information about eligible locations throughout the suburb, ensuring you park legally and stress-free.
