Understanding the NSW Mobility Parking Scheme
The NSW Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS) in Chippendale offers vital support for individuals with disabilities that affect mobility. There are two main permit types: the individual permit, known as the blue card, is valid for five years and is intended for those with permanent disabilities. The temporary permit, or red card, is valid for up to six months and is designed for short-term mobility issues, such as recovering from an injury. Both permit holders can access designated disability parking spaces throughout Chippendale. These spaces include convenient locations near Broadway Shopping Centre and Chippendale Green Park.
To be eligible, you must have a diagnosis that significantly impacts your mobility. The application process is straightforward and can be completed through the Service NSW online portal. You will need medical documentation from your doctor that confirms your condition. Misusing these permits can result in hefty fines, which can be as high as $550 for unauthorized use. Always display your permit correctly to avoid penalties and ensure compliance with local regulations.
