Understanding NSW Disability Parking Permits
In Dulwich Hill, residents requiring mobility assistance can benefit from the NSW Mobility Parking Scheme, which offers different permit categories tailored to individual needs. The most common permits are individual and temporary types. An individual permit, marked by a blue card, is valid for five years and designed for people with permanent disabilities. In contrast, a temporary permit, represented by a red card, suits those experiencing temporary disabilities such as injuries, and remains valid for up to six months. Both permits allow you to park in designated disability parking spaces across the region, including around Dulwich Hill Library and local shopping precincts on Constitution Road and Davis Street.
To obtain a permit, eligible applicants must complete an application through Service NSW online or via paper form at local service centers. A crucial step involves securing a medical report where a doctor or medical specialist verifies eligibility by completing the medical certificate section. If you hold a current NSW driver's license, a medical assessment may be required as well. The application process is straightforward when you gather necessary documentation, including your completed form and medical certification from your healthcare provider confirming your mobility challenges.
