This program provides vital accessibility options through parking concessions for individuals with disabilities. In New South Wales, there are two primary types of permits available: the individual permit, which is a blue card that lasts for five years, and the temporary permit, a red card valid for up to six months.
These permits allow you to park in designated disability spaces across the region, including near major landmarks like Kings Langley Shopping Centre and the nearby train station. To obtain a mobility parking permit, eligible individuals must contact Service NSW. Applications can be submitted online, via mail, or in person at local offices.
It's important to remember that a medical report confirming your condition is necessary for the application process. Your general practitioner can complete this assessment. If this is your first application or renewal, a medical assessment may also be necessary to confirm your fitness to drive, particularly if your situation has changed recently.
After securing the medical report, collect all necessary documentation and submit your application to Service NSW. Include proof of residency and identification documents. If you have a photo exemption due to disability, make sure to mention this when applying. Processing times typically range from two to four weeks.
Once approved, your permit will be mailed to your address. Display it clearly on your vehicle's dashboard whenever you park in disability parking bays.
