NSW Mobility Parking Scheme Permits Explained
In Mount Druitt, residents can access the NSW Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS) to obtain a disability parking permit tailored to their needs. The MPS offers two categories: individual permits for those with medical conditions affecting mobility, and organisation permits for businesses that transport people with disabilities. These permits provide legal access to designated accessible parking spaces throughout the suburb, including near major landmarks like Westfield Mount Druitt on Campbell Street and the Mount Druitt Train Station.
Validity periods vary depending on your circumstances. Individual permits typically last five years, while temporary parking permits may be issued for shorter durations based on specific medical needs. The scheme recognises both permanent and temporary mobility challenges, ensuring flexibility for residents facing different situations. Whether you're recovering from surgery or managing a long-term condition, there's a permit option designed for you.
How to Apply for Your Disability Permit
Starting the application process is straightforward but requires several steps. First, download the MPS application form from Service NSW or access it online. Next, book an appointment with your GP or medical specialist who will assess your condition and complete the medical section of the form. This medical validation is critical. It confirms your eligibility and documents your mobility challenges for the assessor.
Once your GP completes their section, bring the form along with proof of identity (driver's licence or passport) to a Service NSW Centre in Mount Druitt. You may need to provide additional documents confirming your medical condition. After submission, your approved parking permit will be mailed to you.
