The City of Darebin issues these permits based on functional assessments that determine eligibility. The duration of the permits also depends on these assessments. These designated parking spots are strategically located throughout the suburb. They can be found near Plenty Road and local stations, which makes essential services more accessible. Permit validity periods vary depending on the nature of your disability. Therefore, it's important to understand your specific category and renewal timeline.
The permit system recognizes three main categories that reflect different mobility needs. Your general practitioner or occupational therapist will conduct the functional assessment to determine which category suits you best. If you have a cognitive or neurological disability, only a GP can perform your assessment. You can hold only one permit at a time. Additionally, all required documentation must be provided when submitting your application to the council.
