Understanding Accessible Parking Permits in Knox
In Knox, Victoria, Accessible Parking Permits are specifically designed to assist individuals with mobility impairments. These permits are categorized based on the severity of the disability. Each permit remains valid for up to five years, which gives residents reliable access to community facilities and services throughout the area. Knox City Council and authorized assessment providers issue these permits to eligible applicants who meet strict criteria.
The application process requires a functional assessment from a qualified general practitioner or occupational therapist. For cognitive or neurological disabilities, a GP consultation is essential. Occupational therapists cannot assess these conditions. Application Steps and Eligibility Requirements
To secure your permit, start by confirming eligibility through Knox City Council parking services. Knox assesses mobility impairments, chronic conditions, and functional limitations that affect your ability to walk. After reviewing the criteria, you'll need to schedule a functional assessment appointment. This assessment determines which permit category suits your needs. The options include standard, mobility aid user, or maximum disability classifications, each with different parking entitlements across Victoria.
Once your GP or occupational therapist completes the assessment, submit the documentation directly to the Accessible Parking Permits Victoria office.
