Understanding ACROD Permits in Martin
In Martin, Western Australia, disability parking permits are governed by the ACROD Parking Program. This scheme provides two permit categories: the standard ACROD Parking Permit and special permits for those with severe mobility impairments. Validity options range from short-term to long-term use depending on individual circumstances. The City of Perth recognizes both international and interstate permits, allowing them to remain valid for three months after arrival in Western Australia. After this period, holders must obtain a new permit through official channels.
Permit holders must be present in the vehicle to use these parking privileges. Key accessible parking bays are situated near Martin Avenue's local shopping centre, improving access for residents and visitors with disabilities. Importantly, concessions apply only to hourly rates and exclude event parking or block rates. Processing times vary, so applying early is advisable. The permit system is designed specifically for those whose ability to walk is significantly limited due to permanent or temporary conditions.
Steps to Secure Your ACROD Permit
Applying for an ACROD Parking Permit in Martin requires a structured process. Start by downloading the application form and completing the first section yourself. Next, a medical professional (such as a doctor or occupational therapist) must complete the second section to confirm your eligibility based on mobility restrictions. This medical assessment is crucial for verifying that you meet the program's requirements for accessible parking benefits.
Once complete, submit your application via email, online, or post. For detailed guidance on this process, visit the official ACROD permit application resource. Always verify signage before parking to confirm the bay accepts ACROD permits.

Short-term permits suit temporary conditions, while long-term permits serve permanent mobility restrictions. Keep documentation handy when traveling between states, as interstate permits remain valid for three months in Western Australia.
