Free Parking Permits in Blackheath Town Centre
Blackheath’s existing time-restricted town-centre parking is part of Blue Mountains City Council’s Visitor Pay Parking scheme, so visitors cannot treat signed spaces as generally free parking. Residents, ratepayers, businesses and employees in the Blue Mountains can park free in Blackheath when they hold a valid council permit (Blue Mountains City Council). The permit concession belongs to those eligible groups, not to ordinary visitors.
Blackheath drivers with an eligible permit still need to follow the signs at each parking location. Blue Mountains City Council states that permits do not remove existing timed restrictions, while visitor payment applies in the town centre through a meter or PayStay where the sign requires it.
Blackheath Town-Centre Demand and Paid Fallback Parking
Blackheath town-centre spaces are most difficult to secure when visitors are competing for the existing time-restricted locations, because the council scheme covers the village centre rather than a separate free visitor car park. A driver without an eligible permit should budget for paid parking instead of relying on a free space in the signed centre.
Blackheath visitors can also buy a $38 day parking pass through the PayStay phone app using time-zone number 27851234.
Parksy Garage Parking Near Blackheath in Katoomba
When free or permit-based parking in Blackheath is full, Parksy lists a secure garage parking space in Katoomba for drivers prepared to park outside Blackheath. The space costs $30 a day and is 9.8 kilometres from Blackheath, making it suited to a full-day visit when secure off-street parking matters more than staying in the village centre.
The Katoomba garage is a priced Parksy option rather than free parking, so it suits drivers who want a bookable alternative after Blackheath’s town-centre spaces have filled. Its garage format may also suit a driver carrying equipment or leaving a vehicle for the day, while the distance means it is not a direct substitute for a space beside Blackheath shops.
