Edgecliff restrictions that control free roadside parking
Woollahra Municipal Council enforces Edgecliff parking restrictions through statutory rules under the New South Wales Road Rules and restrictions shown on parking signs. A time-limited bay can therefore be free to use while still requiring the vehicle to leave within the displayed period. Council Rangers enforce both types of restriction (Woollahra Municipal Council).
Resident parking zones in the Woollahra Council area are designed for residents with little or no off-street parking, and resident permits are available to eligible residents. Resident visitor permits are available to permanent residents who live within Resident Parking Areas. A resident-only space is not a general free-parking option, because the concession belongs to the relevant permit holder (Woollahra Municipal Council).
Busy Edgecliff visits and cheaper named parking choices
Eastpoint Food Fair is most useful for short shopping visits, but its free supply can be exhausted when several drivers arrive at the shopping centre together. The site operates from 7am to 12am every day, so evening and weekend visits still fall within its operating period rather than creating a separate free-parking window (Point Parking).
When the free bays are unavailable, the lowest-priced named Parksy alternative is the secure covered space 160 metres away at $3 an hour. A secure undercover space 110 metres away costs $13 a day, while regular users can choose the $250-a-month secure private space 80 metres away. The monthly spaces at 60 and 110 metres cost $320, $595 and $325 a month, respectively, and are aimed at longer-term parking rather than a quick shopping stop.
