Parking Near Macquarie Park
Free Parking at Macquarie Centre and Byfield Street
Macquarie Centre lists a free rate for parking from zero to three hours, with the three-hour limit applying except in the Express Car Park.
Macquarie Centre’s free rate is tied to the centre’s parking facility rather than to unrestricted kerbside parking. A driver using Macquarie Centre can therefore use the zero-to-three-hour rate without paying, while a qualifying $400 purchase is associated with the centre’s all-day free offer. The Express Car Park is excluded from the three-hour limit stated for the other centre parking areas.
Secure Parking’s 3 Byfield Street car park is a named alternative for Byfield Street, Herring Road, Waterloo Road, Macquarie Park Metro Station and Macquarie University, but it is priced rather than free. The operator lists a $12 daily rate for full car-park opening hours, so it should not be treated as a general free option (secureparking.com.au).
Macquarie Centre Limits and the Conditions on Free Stays
Macquarie Centre’s ordinary free rate is limited to three hours, except in the Express Car Park, so a driver using the centre’s ordinary parking areas must keep the stay within the stated period to retain that rate (macquariecentre.com.au). Macquarie Centre separately lists all-day free parking for spending $400 or more, making that offer dependent on the qualifying purchase rather than available to every visitor.
Secure Parking’s 3 Byfield Street facility has different operating conditions from Macquarie Centre. Secure Parking lists entry from 6:00 am and exit before 9:00 pm every day, including weekends and public holidays, and describes the facility as open from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm (secureparking.com.au). Those hours belong to 3 Byfield Street and do not set Macquarie Centre’s free-stay limit.
The 3 Byfield Street rate remains a $12 flat daily charge for the car park’s full opening hours, so accessibility and price are separate matters.
When Macquarie Park Free Parking Fills Up

NSW parking fine guidance lists $140 for overstaying and $704 for parking in a disabled spot (chalked.cc). Those are NSW fine figures, not a Macquarie Centre tariff, and the evidence does not assign either amount to a particular Macquarie Park car park. A disabled space therefore carries a separate, higher listed NSW figure than ordinary overstaying.
NSW fine administration guidance says drivers can manage a penalty through the Service NSW app or by phone on 1300 138 118 (lakemac.com.au).
