How Rockdale parking fines are issued and challenged
Bayside Council does not set or review parking fine amounts: parking penalties and demerit points are governed by Transport for NSW and NSW Treasury (Bayside Council). Bayside Council parking officers document detected offences with photographic evidence and process the fine electronically. Revenue NSW then processes the fine, and the official Penalty Infringement Notice is posted to the vehicle’s registered owner.
A Parking Fine Notification is usually printed and placed on the vehicle, but it is not the official fine and does not require immediate action (Bayside Council). Revenue NSW handles payment, evidence review and requests for review, while a driver who wants to contest a fine in court must use the NSW Government fines process. Bayside Council states that only Revenue NSW can review or withdraw a fine after issue, so speaking with a council ranger cannot cancel an issued notice.
