No Parking bays allow a driver to remain within three metres of the vehicle for only two minutes, while drivers who stop in No Stopping areas around schools can receive an infringement by post.
Blackburn Parking Infringements and How Enforcement Works
Whitehorse City Council states that any illegally parked vehicle can receive an infringement, and Parking Service Officers patrol parking areas daily (Whitehorse City Council). In-ground sensors record when a vehicle stops and leaves a bay, including when the engine remains running. When a vehicle exceeds the maximum permitted time, the sensor signals the nearest patrolling officer, who can issue a fine.
In ticket-machine areas, Whitehorse City Council requires the fee to be paid immediately after parking, with payment by coin, card or PayStay (Whitehorse City Council). A ticket must be displayed face up on the passenger-side dashboard. The council states that drivers can obtain payment information from the ticket machine, and faults should be reported using the service number and machine identification number printed on the machine.
