Parking Near Blackwood
Free evening parking at Blackwood pay-and-display car parks
Drivers looking for free parking in Blackwood can use Caerphilly County Borough’s pay-and-display car parks after 6pm. Blackwood Miners’ Institute identifies this as a borough-wide arrangement for pay-and-display car parks, making the evening period useful for performances, evening appointments and later visits to the town centre (blackwoodminersinstitute.com).
Blackwood Miners’ Institute also has a limited number of disabled-access parking spaces. Those spaces are intended for visitors who need disabled access rather than as a general free-parking supply. The institute’s information therefore gives two distinct options: pay-and-display car parks become free after 6pm, while the institute’s accessible spaces are limited and reserved for access needs (blackwoodminersinstitute.com).
Blackwood resident-only bays and the people allowed to use them
Blackwood has resident-only bays on some streets, so a bay marked for residents is not a general free-parking space. The South Wales Argus reports that the council added resident-only bays to Blackwood streets, with the changes taking effect on 4 February 2026 (southwalesargus.co.uk).
That timing belongs to the resident-only bay changes, not to every parking place in Blackwood.
Caerphilly County Borough provides season-ticket permits through its parking-permit service. A season ticket is a permit product rather than a general free-parking concession, so it does not turn resident-only bays into unrestricted spaces for visitors (caerphilly.gov.uk).
Blackwood alternatives when the free evening spaces are occupied
Blackwood’s free period applies after 6pm, so demand can be concentrated around the evening rather than spread across the whole day. Blackwood Miners’ Institute is a named local destination with a limited number of disabled-access spaces, while the borough’s pay-and-display car parks provide the wider evening supply (blackwoodminersinstitute.com).
For daytime visits, the reported Blackwood high-street tariff was 40p for one hour.
Drivers who need a paid space close to Blackwood can use a driveway space at Bryn Surgery, 0.9 mi away, costing £0.70 an hour. The space suits short daytime visits when a town-centre free space is unavailable.

A priced Parksy space at Bryn Surgery in Blackwood is 0.9 mi away and costs £0.70 an hour. Its low hourly price suits a short appointment or errand when the free evening period does not match the visit.

The Dental Clinic in Bargoed CF81 is 4.2 mi away and costs £3 an hour. These spaces suit drivers who need a named destination rather than a town-centre evening bay.
