Additionally, Southbank is home to numerous residential complexes, such as the iconic Eureka Tower, which may have specific regulations regarding moving truck access. Vehicles longer than 7.5 metres face restrictions in most residential bays across the suburb. Any vehicle with a width exceeding 2.5 metres, including trailers, cannot fit into standard car spaces. These regulations exist to maintain traffic flow and protect local infrastructure.
Understanding loading zone restrictions is equally important for your move. Designated loading zones cluster around businesses and near the Revolutions attraction, but they typically enforce strict 30-minute time limits. The Brisbane City Council publishes detailed street parking rules and signs for each zone throughout Southbank. Always check signage on Sturt Street and Southbank Boulevard before stopping. Violations can result in fines ranging from $107 to $263, so compliance pays off.

Loading Zones and No-Stopping Areas
Southbank's loading zone access is carefully regulated to balance business needs with residential parking. Most loading zones permit stopping for only 30 minutes maximum, particularly around commercial properties and the Revolutions attraction, located 220 metres from the CBD. No-stopping exceptions apply near essential establishments, meaning you cannot pause even briefly in these areas. Driveways must remain clear so service vehicles can access properties without obstruction.
The area around Sturt Street station and Queens Bridge Street enforces particularly strict regulations. Understanding these rules prevents frustrating fines and keeps traffic moving smoothly. The Brisbane City Council provides comprehensive guidance through official signage and online resources. If you're uncertain about specific restrictions in your chosen parking area, take time to photograph the signs or contact the council directly. This small effort saves substantial money and hassle on moving day.
Resident Parking Permits and Application Process
New residents applying for resident parking permits follow a standardized Brisbane City Council process. Required documentation includes proof of residency (lease agreement or utility bill), vehicle registration details, and valid identification. Submit applications at your local council office or through their online portal. Processing typically takes up to two weeks, so apply well before your move date.
Southbank has a limited number of resident parking bays, making early application essential. Once approved, your permit grants access to designated residential spaces throughout the suburb. The permit cost varies by location and duration but remains affordable compared to daily loading fees. Consider applying at least three weeks before your move to avoid delays.
