Residential Permit Zones and Restriction Hours
In Randwick, residential street parking is primarily regulated to ensure that local residents can easily access their parking spaces. Most residential areas, particularly around the Randwick Hospitals Campus and Sydney Surgical Centre, have designated permit-only parking zones where restrictions apply during specific hours on weekdays. If you're driving on streets like Avoca Street or Belmore Road, be sure to check the signs carefully, as restrictions typically operate between 8 AM and 6 PM.
Failure to comply with permit parking regulations can result in hefty fines, so always ensure you display a valid parking permit if you're a local resident. Visitor permits offer flexibility for temporary guests and are available for short-term use. You can purchase visitor permits directly from the council or through authorized retailers. Many streets around the hospital precincts and shopping districts offer time-limited visitor parking at no charge for the first 30 minutes. This makes it convenient for quick visits to local shops, medical appointments, or catching up with friends in the area.
