Yarra City Council ensures that eligible applicants receive permits valid for durations that match their specific circumstances. Whether navigating the vibrant shopping scene or accessing medical services, disability parking access removes unnecessary stress from daily routines. Eligibility Requirements and Assessment Process
Eligibility for an APP in South Yarra requires meeting specific criteria established by Yarra City Council. All applicants must undergo a functional assessment conducted by either a general practitioner or an occupational therapist. If your disability involves cognitive or neurological conditions, you must consult a GP rather than an occupational therapist. This distinction ensures appropriate clinical evaluation. You can hold only one permit at a time, which prevents misuse of the scheme.
The assessment process is straightforward but thorough. You'll need to provide a mobile phone number or have a family member assist with your online application submission. Once you have lodged your application, Yarra City Council sends a reference code. You will present this code to your health professional for the crucial functional assessment. This medical evaluation determines your permit type and validity period. It ensures that priority parking access reaches only those with genuine mobility needs.
