The Signs and Permits That Control Free Parking in South Yarra
South Yarra street parking remains free only while the signed time limit and operating period are obeyed.
South Yarra paid parking areas still require payment, although a driver with a disability parking permit does not need to pay in those areas. Green and blue label permit holders may park in a time-restricted bay for twice the signed period (yarracity.vic.gov.au). Business, disabled and medical parking permits are valid only in certain areas and are issued to drivers who meet the requirements, so permit-only concessions are not general free parking.
South Yarra Parking Infringements, Payment and Appeals
South Yarra drivers who leave a vehicle beyond a signed limit or fail to pay in a paid parking area can receive a parking infringement from the responsible council authority (yarracity.vic.gov.au).
Fines Victoria accepts payment by Visa or MasterCard when the driver calls 1300 735 124 and quotes the obligation number on the notice. Fines Victoria also accepts in-person payment when the driver presents the infringement notice (online.fines.vic.gov.au). A driver challenging a South Yarra infringement uses the appeal option stated on the notice rather than treating a free bay as permission to ignore its signed limit.
