Applying for Your Mobility Parking Permit

Medical Requirements for Disability Parking Permits
Your doctor or medical specialist plays a crucial role in your permit application. They must verify your eligibility and complete the medical certificate that accompanies your application. The assessment considers your mobility limitations and whether you qualify for disability parking access under NSW Government guidelines. If your condition has changed since your last permit, an updated medical assessment ensures your permit accurately reflects your current needs. This medical gatekeeping protects the scheme's integrity while ensuring genuine users receive permits.
The medical certificate requirement isn't bureaucratic red tape. It's designed to ensure spaces remain available for those who genuinely need them. Your doctor understands your condition and can explain to authorities why accessible parking is essential for you. If you hold a NSW driver's licence, discuss parking eligibility during your next medical check-up. The process takes time, but submitting complete documentation promptly prevents unnecessary delays. Planning ahead means you'll have your permit when you need it, whether for medical appointments, shopping, or community activities around Rydal.
