Disability Bay Regulations and Local Enforcement
Hampton's disability parking bays are legally protected spaces. Each bay measures a minimum of 2.4 meters in width, providing adequate room for mobility aids like wheelchairs and walkers. The Redland Shire Council actively monitors these spaces to prevent misuse and ensure they remain available for permit holders. Unauthorized use carries hefty penalties: fines can reach $300 and are strictly enforced by local authorities across Hampton and surrounding areas.
Understanding the rules protects both you and the community. Disability bay misuse undermines access for genuine permit holders who depend on these convenient spaces for their daily activities. If you're caught using a bay without a valid permit, enforcement officers will issue citations immediately. The council takes this seriously because these spaces are essential accessibility features. Always display your permit clearly on your dashboard so inspectors can verify your eligibility at a glance.
