Managing Your Permit and Renewal Requirements
Your disability parking permit must be displayed clearly on your windscreen whenever you park in an accessible bay. Keep your permit in good condition because faded or damaged permits may not be recognized. Remember that permits are personal to the vehicle and cannot be transferred. If you change vehicles, notify the Department. Store all renewal documentation to avoid last-minute stress when your five-year validity period expires.
Renewal begins approximately three months before expiration. You'll need updated medical certification confirming that your condition still qualifies for parking support. Missing renewal deadlines means losing access to accessible bays, so mark your calendar well in advance. The Department for Infrastructure and Transport sends reminder notices to registered permit holders. If you haven't received correspondence or need assistance, contact them directly.
