Understanding Disability Parking Permits in Seton
In Seton, Alberta, residents with mobility challenges can access disability parking permits through Alberta's government system. The province issues three distinct placard types: temporary (3–12 months), long-term (5 years), and permanent (renewable every 5 years without recertification). These permits serve individuals who cannot walk more than 50 metres and need dedicated access to marked accessible parking bays.
What makes Alberta's system unique is that permits are issued to the person, not the vehicle. This means you can use your placard in any car you travel in, whether your own, a family member's, or a rental. Simply display it on your rearview mirror or dashboard. The Mutual Recognition of Parking Permits agreement also allows visitors from other provinces and countries to use their home permits in Seton, making travel seamless.
