Getting Your Woodhaven Accessible Parking Permit
In Woodhaven, Manitoba, individuals with mobility challenges can obtain an accessible parking permit. This permit allows access to designated spaces across the region. The permit program is managed by Manitoba Transportation & Infrastructure and administered by Manitoba Possible. There are two main permit types: Permanent Permits, which are valid for three years without provider renewal, and Temporary Permits, issued based on healthcare provider recommendations. Each permit costs just $15 CAD.
Eligibility hinges on one simple criterion: your ability to walk unassisted. If you're "unable to walk more than 50 metres unassisted without great difficulty or danger to health and safety," you likely qualify. Your primary healthcare provider (doctor, nurse practitioner, or specialist) must complete and submit the application on your behalf. Processing typically takes about ten business days. Once Manitoba Possible receives your application, they will contact you regarding payment and next steps. For detailed information about permit categories, consult the Manitoba Possible parking permits page.
Understanding Permit Eligibility and Renewal in Woodhaven
The application process requires the involvement of a healthcare professional. Permanent permits last three years and can be renewed by your healthcare provider. This renewal does not require an in-person medical reassessment, which streamlines the process considerably. Temporary permits follow the timeline recommended by your provider, whether that is weeks or months. Such flexibility accommodates various medical conditions, ranging from surgery recovery to chronic mobility limitations.
Residents of Woodhaven often overlook renewal timelines. To avoid any issues, mark your calendar six weeks before expiry. This will help you initiate the renewal process with your provider. The Manitoba Residents Portal provides detailed permit information, including eligibility criteria and documentation requirements. Understanding these requirements prevents gaps in your permit coverage. It also ensures uninterrupted access to designated accessible spaces throughout Woodhaven.
