Understanding Glebe's Accessible Parking Rules
Parking in accessible spaces without authorization carries serious consequences in Glebe. Ontario law is strict: fines can reach $5,000 for misusing these designated spots. The City of Ottawa enforces these regulations through parking control officers, and permits can be revoked if misused repeatedly. Each municipality has its own bylaws, so what applies in Glebe may differ from neighbouring areas. Always display your permit clearly to avoid confusion or unwanted tickets when parking near the Trillium Line or local shopping districts.
The permit itself is not vehicle-specific, so you can use it in any car you're traveling in. However, the permit holder must be present in the vehicle during parking: lending your permit to someone else while you're not there is strictly prohibited and can result in hefty penalties. For detailed compliance information and updates to local bylaws, check the accessibility parking guide for Ontario residents. Understanding these rules protects both you and the parking spaces reserved for those who genuinely need them.
