Permit Types and SAAQ Requirements
In Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, disability parking permits come in two distinct categories. Permanent permits serve individuals with long-term mobility challenges and last for five years. The Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) manages all permit issuance and ensures equitable access across the province.
To obtain your permit, you will need medical documentation. Your healthcare provider must confirm your mobility impairment through a formal assessment. This certification is essential for SAAQ approval. The application process is systematic but straightforward, especially when you gather everything in advance. You will need proof of identity, medical records, and a completed application form through the SAAQ accessible parking portal to get started. Processing typically takes two to four weeks, so submit your application early if you need the permit urgently.
