This permit allows individuals to park in designated places without charge, while also benefiting from extended time limits in certain areas. Applying for a Disabled Parking Space Outside Your Home
In West Northamptonshire, individuals with a valid Blue Badge can apply for a disabled parking permit to create a reserved bay outside their residence. The designated space features a single white road marking approximately 5 metres long, placed within your property boundaries with an accompanying sign to indicate the reserved area. However, enforcement relies on neighbour compliance rather than local authority action, so community respect becomes essential for protecting your space.
The application process requires a fee of £245.00 for the sign and line marking. If no suitable wall or fence exists for mounting, an additional £170.00 charge applies for a new post, bringing the total to £415.00. Your application undergoes inspection to ensure practicality and safety standards, with decisions typically provided within 6 to 8 weeks. You'll need to submit your application countersigned by a healthcare professional familiar with your mobility challenges, along with relevant documentation about your condition.
Understanding Blue Badge Eligibility and Requirements
The Blue Badge scheme in West Northamptonshire serves individuals with serious mobility difficulties or those caring for someone with such challenges. Applying involves completing a form countersigned by a medical professional who understands your specific mobility needs and limitations. Some local medical practices may charge fees for this service, so planning ahead prevents unexpected costs from derailing your application timeline.
Once submitted, your application undergoes assessment by the local council to determine validity and necessity.
