Whether you need to visit Te Awa Shopping Centre, Hawke's Bay Hospital, or local GP clinics on Taradale Road, these spaces make a real difference to your independence and daily life.
The application process is straightforward but requires medical evidence. Your GP must confirm significant mobility restrictions, such as the inability to walk more than 50 meters, reliance on wheelchairs, or the need for ongoing mobility aids. Processing typically takes two to three weeks, and once approved, your mobility parking permit remains valid for three years before renewal is needed.

You must demonstrate permanent or long-term mobility challenges that significantly impact your ability to access community facilities and services. This includes wheelchair users, people with severe arthritis or joint conditions, those recovering from major surgery, and individuals with neurological conditions affecting balance or walking.
Your medical professional plays a crucial role in the approval process. They need to provide detailed certification that outlines your specific condition and functional limitations. This ensures only qualified applicants receive permits. For comprehensive details on what the council expects, visit the Napier City Council mobility permit page.
