The City of London enforces these regulations rigorously across the area, including streets surrounding Smithfield Market and the Barbican Centre. Don't ignore that first notice.

Appeal Rights and the Review Process

Mitigating factors like unclear signage, broken parking meters, or technical malfunctions may qualify for cancellation or reduction. This step is free and often successful for drivers with genuine grievances.
Should the internal review fail, an independent tribunal provides your next option. This neutral body evaluates evidence objectively, ensuring fair treatment regardless of where you parked in Smithfield. The appeal process is transparent and designed to protect drivers' rights. Many motorists successfully overturn fines through this route when they can demonstrate procedural errors or misleading parking infrastructure. The effort invested in appealing can save you hundreds of pounds and restore your confidence in the system.
