Parksy also lists secure garage parking in Warners Bay, 8.5 km away, at $20 a day, with 24/7 access. Both listings are priced alternatives outside Rathmines, so their daily charges should be compared with the value of keeping a car away from a busy foreshore area.
NSW signs and permits determine whether Rathmines parking remains free
New South Wales street parking does not have one universal time limit: a driver can leave a vehicle on the street only while complying with the particular restriction applying there (right2drive.com.au). A sign showing a limit such as two hours controls the permitted stay, while a restriction marked no stopping or no parking controls whether the vehicle may stop at all. The rule belongs to the signed location, not to every street in Rathmines.
Disability parking concessions also depend on the sign and the permit displayed. NSW guidance explains that a disability permit can alter the ordinary time allowance, including unlimited parking where a two-hour restriction applies (ideas.org.au).
NSW enforcement and the cost of overstaying in Rathmines
Parking inspectors and other authorised officers issue penalty notices for parking offences in New South Wales (rlc.org.au). A driver who remains beyond a signed limit can therefore receive a penalty notice even where the original space was free.
A NSW penalty notice provides payment and review pathways. Revenue NSW may allow a 50 per cent reduction in some circumstances when a penalty is dealt with through the relevant payment process (rlc.org.au). Drivers who dispute a notice can use the review rights attached to the penalty notice, while an unpaid notice can progress to further enforcement and additional fees under NSW fines procedures (gotocourt.com.au).
