Free Parking in Downtown Milton and on Town Streets
The Downtown Milton source directs drivers to the posted signs for the applicable parking rules and times, so the free status does not remove the need to follow each location’s restrictions.
The Town of Milton does not offer long-term permit parking on Town streets, while residents can request parking exceptions through the Town’s parking-exception service (milton.ca). A resident exception is therefore different from unrestricted public parking and is not a general free-parking option for every visitor. The Town also lists monthly parking permits in select parks at $60 per month, with limited spaces available. Those permits are a paid option for drivers using eligible park locations, not free parking.
Milton Street Limits, Overnight Restrictions and Resident Exceptions
The Town of Milton sets a maximum five-hour limit for street parking (milton.ca). The Town also prohibits street parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. and prohibits parking on streets during snowstorms and snow removal operations. These rules apply to Town streets even where a driver is not paying to park, so a free curbside space can still be subject to a maximum stay or a time-based restriction.
Milton residents can apply for short-term and extended parking-exception permits for street parking through the Town (milton.ca). The Town’s exception service says residents can request up to 25 parking exceptions per calendar year. A monthly permit in a select park is also separate from a street-parking exception and costs $60 per month.
What to Use When Milton’s Free Spaces Are Full
Drivers therefore need to distinguish the general availability of free parking from the time and restriction information displayed at the individual space or lot. The Downtown Milton source identifies free parking throughout Downtown Milton, including both municipal lots and on-street spaces.
The Town of Milton lists monthly parking permits in select parks for $60 per month, with limited spaces available (milton.ca). This is the clearest named paid alternative in the Town’s parking information when a driver needs an eligible park location rather than a short visit downtown.
