Parking Near Picton
Free parking at 55 King Street, Mary Street and Picton’s winter bays
Prince Edward County provides free parking in the municipal lot at 55 King Street and in the municipal lot on Mary Street, although availability is limited at both locations (thecounty.ca). These are named off-street options for drivers visiting central Picton without using a pay station. ServiceOntario’s Picton Courthouse page also identifies free parking on Pitt Street and Portland Street (ontario.ca), giving drivers two named streets to consider near the courthouse.
A driver staying within the applicable limit can therefore use a signed downtown space during that period without paying. The municipal lots and courthouse-area streets remain separate named options, so their availability and signs determine whether a particular space can be used.
Picton overflow parking when King Street and Mary Street fill
Free spaces in Picton are more difficult to secure during the summer period, when visitor activity increases around downtown Prince Edward County. The municipality’s Summer Hub lot offers free public parking from 7 am to 10 pm, seven days a week, and no permit is required (thecounty.ca).
Picton’s paid downtown system operates through the Passport Pay app, according to Visit The County (visitthecounty.com). The municipality also identifies limited free parking at 55 King Street and Mary Street, while paid spaces provide an alternative when those lots are full (thecounty.ca).
Picton street limits, Market Lane and winter overnight controls
Picton street parking has a two-hour maximum under the downtown paid-parking arrangements, while parking spaces in Market Lane are excluded from that time limit (countylive.ca). Market Lane therefore has a different control from the ordinary street spaces, and a driver cannot apply the two-hour rule to Market Lane without checking the signs governing the individual space.
Prince Edward County’s seasonal notice says overnight parking restrictions remain in effect until March 31, 2026 (thecounty.ca). Parking free of charge does not remove a time, overnight or location-based control.
The 370-metre secure Picton parking lot for full free areas
Parksy lists a secure parking lot in Picton, Ontario, located 370 metres from the relevant search point. Its secure-lot format gives drivers a named off-street alternative when the free public locations are occupied.
The space is in Picton and is therefore relevant to a driver who needs parking near the town centre rather than a different Picton elsewhere. Drivers comparing it with free parking can use the location and secure-lot description to decide whether paying for a reserved alternative is preferable to continuing around the municipal lots and streets.
