Parking Near Woolwich
Free car parks in Elmira and St. Jacobs, Woolwich
Woolwich Township offers free off-street parking in Downtown Elmira and Downtown St. Jacobs, giving drivers a practical alternative to searching for an unrestricted roadside space (woolwich.ca). Elmira’s Wyatt Street Parking Lot is one of the named free locations, and the township lists the Elmira and St. Jacobs sites for downtown visits.
The free parking information applies to the township’s listed off-street locations rather than to every street in Woolwich. Drivers heading into Elmira can use the Wyatt Street Parking Lot, while drivers visiting St. Jacobs can use the free off-street parking locations identified by Woolwich Township.
Winter mornings and busy downtown parking in Woolwich
Woolwich’s free downtown lots are most useful for ordinary visits to Elmira and St. Jacobs, but winter creates a specific restriction on township roads. From December 1 through March 31, Woolwich prohibits parking on township roads between 4:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m (woolwich.ca). A vehicle left on a road during those hours is not using a free parking option lawfully, even when the road is otherwise open to parking.
Downtown drivers can therefore separate short daytime visits to the free Elmira or St. Jacobs lots from overnight parking that requires the township’s permit process.
Woolwich winter parking hours and overnight lot permits
The rule belongs to township roads, so a driver using a roadside space must remove the vehicle before the restricted morning period begins.
Designated Township lots have a separate overnight parking permit arrangement. The permit requirement applies to those designated lots and is not a general permission to park overnight on Woolwich roads. A free daytime visit to a listed downtown lot should therefore not be treated as an overnight entitlement.

Woolwich parking penalties and late-payment charges
Woolwich Township issues parking penalty notices under its parking administration system. The township lists a $25 late-payment parking administrative penalty, which is added when the original parking penalty is not paid on time (woolwich.ca). A driver dealing with a notice should use the township’s payment or review process rather than treating the free downtown lots as exempt from enforcement.
The township’s penalty-notice process provides the route for paying a notice or requesting a screening review.
