Parking Near Regina
Free On-Street Parking Across Regina After 5 P.m.
Regina’s on-street parking is free on weekday evenings after 5 p.m., all day Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays, although posted time limits still apply (regina.ca). The City of Regina provides the broadest general option for short visits, with drivers using marked street spaces rather than assuming that a paid downtown area is unrestricted.
Downtown Regina follows a particularly useful evening and weekend pattern: Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. is free, and Saturday and Sunday parking is free all day (reginadowntown.ca). The University of Regina also makes public parking complimentary during evenings, weekends and statutory holidays, excluding parkades and group events (uregina.ca).
Regina Time Limits and Permit Conditions Still Apply to Free Spaces
The City of Regina uses time-limited parking in some neighbourhoods to balance the needs of people visiting local businesses and residents (regina.ca). A free street space is therefore usable only for the duration shown on its sign or marking. Regina’s downtown operator also enforces a two-hour limit during free evening and weekend periods (reginadowntown.ca), making the downtown rule distinct from other streets where posted limits can differ.
Accessible stalls and time-zone or limited areas at the university have their own restrictions, so complimentary parking does not override a designated condition. Regina Police Service guidance adds a separate restriction for vehicles over six metres: such a vehicle may remain on a street for a maximum of two hours, including weekends and holidays (reginapolice.ca). A disabled badge can allow use of an accessible stall, but the stall’s designation and any posted time-zone condition still govern the parking space.
Parksy Parking Near Downtown Regina When Free Spaces Are Full
Parksy lists two priced parking lots in Regina at 310 metres and 320 metres, each costing $2 a day. These are the lowest-priced named options in the nearby listings and suit drivers who want a full-day space close to the centre without relying on a free street bay.
A secure parking lot 370 metres away costs $69 a week, making it the practical choice for a multi-day stay. Two further spaces 370 metres away offer charging: one costs $15 a day and the other costs $2 an hour. The daily option suits a driver leaving a charging vehicle for the day, while the hourly option fits a shorter stop. A downtown Regina parking lot 430 metres away costs $15 a day, giving visitors a priced alternative when nearby free spaces have filled.
Regina Events and University Activity Can Make Free Parking Harder to Find
Free public parking at the University of Regina excludes group events, so event attendance changes whether the university’s complimentary option is available (uregina.ca). Parkades are excluded from the same complimentary arrangement, which leaves public surface parking as the relevant free choice at the university.
Downtown Regina’s free periods are busiest when shoppers, visitors and evening customers arrive together. When a longer stay is needed, the least expensive nearby listed alternatives are the two $2-a-day lots at 310 metres and 320 metres. A $69-a-week lot 370 metres away is the named low-cost option for several days, while a $15-a-day downtown lot 430 metres away works for a single full day. These options avoid treating a free two-hour bay as an all-day space.
Regina Parking Tickets Rise After the Early-Payment Period
Regina parking tickets can be paid at a reduced amount when payment is made within 14 days of issue, according to the City of Regina’s ticket-payment information (regina.ca). The amount printed on the ticket controls the driver’s payment obligation.
The City of Regina provides a parking-ticket payment process, while the early-payment window is the key deadline for reducing the amount (regina.ca). A driver who believes a ticket was issued incorrectly must use the City’s challenge or review route rather than ignore the notice.
