Free Parking in Arboretum, ENG: Where to Find It

Free parking near Nottingham Arboretum

Q-Park identifies Talbot Street as the closest safe and secure parking for the Arboretum, while the Arboretum itself is a public park in Nottingham’s residential area (q-park.co.uk).

Arboretum Place is not a general free option: the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh page describes metered on-street parking near its West Gate on Arboretum Place, and identifies separate Blue Badge spaces there (rbge.org.uk). That information belongs to Edinburgh’s Arboretum Place, not Nottingham Arboretum. The Derby authority’s Arboretum Square material identifies a resident parking zone, so permit-controlled streets there are not general visitor parking (derby.gov.uk). For Nottingham drivers, the practical free choice is therefore limited to any bay whose sign expressly allows parking without payment or a time limit, rather than a named free facility.

Permit and line restrictions around Arboretum Square

Derby City Council’s Zone 9 document covers the residential parking area around Arboretum Square. The zone is a resident parking zone, so a visitor cannot treat a permit-controlled bay as general free parking (derby.gov.uk). A bay reserved for permit holders remains unavailable to an ordinary visitor even when no resident vehicle is present.

Within the Arboretum Square area, double yellow lines prohibit waiting at any time. Single yellow lines have a sign setting out the hours and days of the restriction (derby.gov.uk). The Worcester authority also refers to Arboretum and St Stephens permit zones in its notes for parking-permit applicants, confirming that permit controls apply to named Arboretum areas rather than creating a general free-parking entitlement (worcester.gov.uk).
