Free Streets and Paid Bays Around Clevedon
Free street parking is available on Old Church Road and Elton Road in Clevedon, although spaces are limited (clevedonmarinelake.org.uk). Hill Road and Alexandra Road remain outside North Somerset Council’s planned on-street charging scheme, while Bellevue Road and Gardens Road were also removed from those plans (clevedon.gov.uk). These roads therefore offer the clearest general free-parking options in the town, subject to the signs and markings at the individual space.
Clevedon’s Salthouse Fields car park is public pay-and-display rather than free parking.
Clevedon Time Limits, Permits and Enforcement Conditions
North Somerset Council’s Clevedon on-street charging locations operate Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm (n-somerset.gov.uk). The council lists paid stays by duration, with one-hour, four-hour and nine-hour options, so a free stay cannot be assumed from the fact that a bay is on a public road. The applicable sign and road marking determine whether a particular space is unrestricted, charged or time-limited.
Clevedon’s charging arrangements therefore differ by street rather than applying uniformly across the town. The Salthouse pub car park is reserved for customers and uses automatic number plate recognition, so it is not a general free-parking option (clevedonmarinelake.org.uk).
Parksy Parking Near Clevedon Hospital and the Town
When free street spaces in Clevedon are full, Parksy lists a priced parking space at Clevedon Hospital in BS21, 0.3 mi away, costing £4.60 a day. The hospital location suits a driver who needs a nearby off-street option and wants a daily price rather than an hourly tariff.
Parksy also lists North Somerset parking at DoubleTree Cadbury, 1.2 mi from Clevedon, at £210 a week. A space at Coombe Dale in Backwell is 2.0 mi away and costs £12.50 an hour, while Stones Court in Bristol and a 24/7 space in Backwell are each 2.0 mi away at £4.50 an hour and £8.25 an hour respectively. The DoubleTree Cadbury space is better suited to a longer stay, while the closer hospital space is the practical choice for short town access.
Busy Clevedon Days and Lower-Cost Fallback Parking
Free spaces on Old Church Road and Elton Road can be difficult to find because the local source describes them as limited (clevedonmarinelake.org.uk). The pressure is greatest when visitors are heading for Salthouse Fields and Clevedon Marine Lake, where the public car park is pay-and-display. Drivers arriving for seaside visits should treat the limited free street supply as a first-come option rather than the main parking plan.
These named council options provide a priced fallback when free spaces have gone.
Clevedon Parking Charges and £120 Private Notices
Clevedon Medical Centre states that parking enforcement is in operation and that vehicles parked without authorisation may receive a Parking Charge Notice of up to £120 (thewestonmercury.co.uk). The notice relates to the medical-centre parking area, so a driver cannot treat that site as free public parking simply because it is close to Clevedon’s streets.
The Salthouse pub car park also uses automatic number plate recognition and is reserved for customers, rather than being a free option for general visitors (clevedonmarinelake.org.uk). A council penalty and a private Parking Charge Notice are separate enforcement routes, so the notice issuer determines the payment or challenge process.
