Parking Near Dulwich Village
Free Parking Around Dulwich Village and Dulwich Park
Dulwich Park’s College Road entrance provides access to a driveway and car park, but parking charges apply there (dulwichparkfriends.org.uk). The car park is often full on busy days, especially at weekends, so it is not a dependable free option for a casual visit. Registered disabled park users, eligible people with impaired mobility aged over 64 and people receiving Attendance Allowance can apply for a permit for vehicle access beyond the barrier, but that concession is not general free parking.
Southwark’s CPZ DV covers Dulwich Village. Outside the zone’s operating periods, permits are not needed and visitors do not need to pay in its bays (southwark.gov.uk). Each bay has its own sign, so the sign beside the space determines the applicable restriction.

Dulwich Village Busy Periods and Cheaper Fallback Parking
Dulwich Park’s car park is often full on busy days, especially at weekends (dulwichparkfriends.org.uk). Weekend visits to the park therefore create a particular risk of arriving after the available spaces have gone. The College Road entrance is the park’s vehicle entrance, with parking along the driveway or in the car park, but charges apply there.
A West Dulwich driveway is 0.6 miles away at £48 a week, which is a lower-cost choice for a stay covering several days. A secure East Croydon space is 0.6 miles away at £88 a month, which suits repeated parking. Parksy lists a Red Post Hill driveway 0.7 miles away at £12 a day. These alternatives provide booked spaces when a busy weekend leaves Dulwich Park full, but none is free.
CPZ DV Hours and Dulwich Village Parking Concessions
The rule belongs to CPZ DV and should not be extended to every street or bay in Dulwich Village, because Southwark says its controlled parking zones have their own rules.
The bay sign therefore decides the local time limit, permit condition or other restriction for the exact space. Dulwich Park’s impaired-mobility permit is limited to registered disabled park users, eligible park users with impaired mobility aged over 64 supported by a doctor’s letter, and park users receiving Attendance Allowance (dulwichparkfriends.org.uk). Blue Badge and Orange Badge users are included in the registered disabled category, but the permit is a concession for qualifying park users rather than general free parking.
Penalty Charge Notices for Parking Contraventions in Dulwich Village
Southwark issues Penalty Charge Notices for parking contraventions in the new controlled parking zone north of Dulwich Village after a fortnight’s grace period from its implementation on 6 January 2025 (thedulwichestate.org.uk). The Dulwich Estate reports that the grace period applied from the zone’s start and that enforcement followed it.
A contravention can therefore arise when a vehicle fails to follow the restriction displayed for the bay during its controlled period. The Dulwich Estate directs queries about the scheme to Highways@southwark.gov.uk, while the authority source identifies Southwark as the body operating the controlled parking zones.
