Glastonbury Time Limits and Customer Conditions That Affect Free Parking
Morrisons in Glastonbury makes its free customer parking conditional on a maximum stay of three hours (somersetlive.co.uk). The condition applies to shoppers using that car park, so the free period is not a general entitlement to leave a vehicle there throughout the day. A driver making several separate visits should treat the three-hour maximum as applying to the parking stay, not as a supply of free all-day parking.
Parking conditions can therefore differ between named locations. The Abbey’s seasonal free offer applies specifically to its Silver Street car park and its stated Christmas and New Year period (glastonburyabbey.com).
What to Use When Glastonbury’s Free Spaces Are Full
The Glastonbury Information Centre lists Silver Street, St Johns, Butt Close, Northload Street and St Dunstan’s as the town’s named car parks, giving drivers several locations to try instead of repeatedly circling one street (glastonburyinformationcentre.co.uk).
Glastonbury Tor Park & Ride uses St Dunstan’s Car Park beside the Glastonbury Information Centre for pick-up and drop-off (glastonburyinformationcentre.co.uk). The service is a transport alternative rather than free parking for every driver: the published fare information says children under five travel free, while other passengers use the stated cash or card fare.
Parksy Parking Near Glastonbury When Public Spaces Are Taken
Parksy lists a monthly space in Glastonbury for £93 a month, suitable for a driver needing regular parking rather than a short town-centre stop. A second monthly space in Street is 1.8 miles away and costs £93 a month, making it an option for drivers prepared to park outside Glastonbury itself.
Parksy also lists a space at Britannia Wentworth Street in Street, 1.8 miles from Glastonbury, at £1.50 an hour. A Wells parking option is 5.3 miles away and costs £66 a month, which may suit a regular commuter who can travel onwards from Wells. A further monthly space in Chapel Allerton is 9.4 miles away at £28 a month, but its distance makes it more appropriate for drivers whose journey already passes through that area.
The Glastonbury Overstay Charge Drivers Should Budget For
Morrisons in Glastonbury has a three-hour maximum for free customer parking, and a published local report says an overstay can lead to a fine of up to £80 (somersetlive.co.uk). The £80 figure belongs to Morrisons’ customer car park and should not be applied to Silver Street, St Johns, Butt Close, Northload Street or St Dunstan’s without a separate notice for those sites.
A driver using Morrisons for a short shop needs to leave within the three-hour condition to retain the free parking arrangement; the reported maximum charge is up to £80.
