Parking Near Hunstanton
Free Parking at Valentine Road and Hunstanton’s Motorcycle Areas
Valentine Road car park has six free 20-minute bays, making it the clearest general free option for a quick collection, drop-off or short visit. West Norfolk Council lists the remaining Valentine Road spaces as chargeable, so the free bays do not cover longer stays. The car park is on Valentine Road, Hunstanton, and has 73 spaces overall (west-norfolk.gov.uk).
Motorcycles have additional free options in Hunstanton. West Norfolk Council allows motorcycles to use designated blue parking areas at Central, Coach Park and Southend car parks without charge. Motorcycles may also park free on the grass at Seagate East, Seagate West and Cliff Top. These concessions apply to motorcycles, not ordinary cars, and The Green has a separate motorcycle charge at weekends and Bank Holidays from April to September, with free parking there outside that period (west-norfolk.gov.uk).
The Hunstanton Limits and Permits That Control Free Bays
The six free bays at Valentine Road are limited to 20 minutes, so leaving a car there beyond the marked period does not preserve the free stay. Valentine Road’s disabled bays are not a general free option: a Blue Badge is required, and the appropriate daytime or evening charge still applies (west-norfolk.gov.uk).
Street parking in Old Hunstanton is controlled by Norfolk County Council orders covering prohibition of waiting and street parking places on various roads. New single yellow lines on the A149, Wodehouse Road, Hamilton Road and Sea Lane restrict parking between 8am and 6pm, so a free-looking kerb space on those roads is not available during those hours (oldhunstantonparishcouncil.gov.uk). The six Valentine Road bays remain the specific short-stay free provision, rather than a general exemption across Hunstanton.
Busy Hunstanton Days and Lower-Cost Council Parking When Free Bays Fill
Free parking is most useful for a brief stop, but Valentine Road’s six spaces can disappear quickly during busy seaside periods. West Norfolk Council operates eight council car parks in the Hunstanton area, including Central, Cliff, Coach Park, North Prom, Seagate East and West, South Prom, Southend and Valentine Road. The council lists 1,500 spaces at Cliff, 900 at Seagate East and West, 357 at Southend and 153 at South Prom, giving longer-stay visitors substantially more capacity than the free bays (west-norfolk.gov.uk).
It is intended for holidaymakers visiting the borough, not as a free-parking substitute for a short local stop (west-norfolk.gov.uk).
A Parksy Space by Sainsbury’s for Full Hunstanton Car Parks
When the six free Valentine Road bays are occupied, a priced Parksy space by Sainsbury’s Hunstanton is 76 yards away and costs £2.50 an hour. The space has 24/7 access, which suits drivers arriving outside council-car-park charging periods as well as visitors who need more than the 20 minutes allowed in Valentine Road’s free bays.
The Sainsbury’s-area space is best suited to a short shopping trip or a visit where a guaranteed paid space is preferable to circling Hunstanton’s seafront car parks. At £2.50 an hour, the charge is stated for hourly parking, while the 76-yard distance keeps the alternative close to the Valentine Road area.
