Free Parking Around Kew Station and Local Streets
Kew Station Forecourt is the named council car park in Kew. Parking is free outside its Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm operational hours, while Bank Holiday parking is free throughout the day (richmond.gov.uk). The car park has a two-hour maximum stay, so its free periods suit short visits rather than a full day.
Free on-street opportunities are concentrated in Kew’s controlled parking zones. Zone KA includes free time-limited bays on roads other than part of Kew Road and Kew Gardens Road, and Zone KB in South Kew also includes free time-limited bays (richmond.gov.uk). Kew’s local parking information describes some residential streets as having one-hour free bays, but those bays remain subject to their signed limits and zone controls.
Kew CPZ Hours and the Limits on Free Bays
Zone KA operates Monday to Friday from 10am to noon on most roads, while part of Kew Road and Kew Gardens Road operates from 10am to 4.30pm and part of Kew Road operates from 10am to 10pm; Bank and Public Holidays are free for the first KA grouping, but not for the named Kew Road sections (richmond.gov.uk). Zone KB operates Monday to Friday from 10am to noon, with Bank and Public Holidays free. Free bays in these zones are time limited, so leaving a car beyond the signed stay can turn a free visit into a contravention.
Zone KC, covering North Kew, operates Monday to Sunday from 10am to 4.30pm, including Bank and Public Holidays, and from 10am to 11pm during major events; KC lists permit and RingGo bays rather than general free bays (richmond.gov.uk). Kew Station Forecourt allows free parking outside its Monday to Saturday operating period but still imposes a two-hour maximum stay.

Kew Event Days and Cheaper Ways to Leave the Car Outside the Centre
Parking pressure rises when events are held at Kew Gardens or matches take place at the Gtech Community Stadium. North Kew’s event zone operates for one day from 10am to 11pm when an event falls outside the normal KC hours, and only vehicles displaying the required permit can park throughout the zone during its operation (richmond.gov.uk).
Kew Gardens charges all visitors and members for parking, so its visitor car park is not a free fallback. Blue Badge holders can park there free in disabled-access spaces, while motorcycles and mopeds are not charged (kew.org).
