Parking Near Kirklees
Parksy parking near Huddersfield when free spaces are full
A priced Parksy space on Milford Street provides 24/7 parking for £4 an hour and sits 208 yards away, making it suited to drivers needing a close all-day option in Huddersfield. A space in Oakes Villa is 315 yards away and costs £0.80 an hour, which suits longer stays where walking a little farther keeps the hourly cost down.
Parksy lists two priced options 0.3 miles away at Sainsbury’s Shorehead: 24/7 parking costs £5 an hour, while event parking costs £5.05 a day. A secure parking lot 0.3 miles away costs £1.50 an hour, and a further Sainsbury’s Huddersfield space 0.3 miles away costs £4.50 an hour. These spaces suit drivers arriving after a free period has filled or needing parking for an event rather than continuing to circle for an unrestricted bay.
Blue Badge and permit rules affecting free Kirklees parking
Kirklees Blue Badge holders can park on-street for free and without a time limit at metered and pay-and-display sites, and can use designated disabled bays free and without a time limit unless a sign states otherwise. A parking clock must be displayed with the Blue Badge (kirklees.gov.uk). Blue Badge holders can also park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours with the badge and clock displayed.
Kirklees Blue Badge concessions do not apply to every off-street car park because each car park owner sets separate rules. Blue Badge holders cannot use pedestrianised areas, bus or cycle lanes, pedestrian crossings, zigzag markings, suspended bays, loading bays or resident parking bays. Kirklees resident and visitor permits apply only within residential parking schemes, and residents must apply through a My Kirklees Account (kirklees.gov.uk). On-street parking remains subject to waiting restrictions, yellow lines and signs.
Kirklees PCN costs, payment deadlines and challenges
Kirklees Council issues a Penalty Charge Notice, or PCN, by attaching it to the windscreen, handing it to the driver or sending it through the post. The full charge must be paid within 28 days of service, while payment within 14 days means paying 50% of the full charge (kirklees.gov.uk).
Kirklees PCNs can be paid online, by phone, in person, at Post Offices or at PayPoint outlets. The automated telephone payment number is 01484 414818, and the PCN or posted document supplies the barcode needed at Post Offices and PayPoint outlets. Drivers can use Kirklees’ parking appeal service to challenge a notice; a PCN sent by post allows 21 days to pay the discounted charge or 28 days to deal with the notice (kirklees.gov.uk).
