Free Parking Options on Newcastle upon Tyne Streets and at Times Square
Newcastle upon Tyne’s on-street restrictions are shown by road markings and kerbside signs. A single yellow line is controlled during the hours displayed on its kerbside sign, while a double yellow line applies all day, every day (newcastle.gov.uk). A driver may stop briefly to pick up or drop off passengers on either marking, but the council does not permit waiting on those lines.
Times Square Car Park on Railway Street is a named city-centre option, but it is paid rather than free. The Centre for Life lists up to one hour at £1.80, up to two hours at £3.20, up to three hours at £4.50 and up to 24 hours at £15.50 (life.org.uk). Payment is by card at kiosks on Levels 0 and 1 or online before exit.
Newcastle Yellow Lines, Blue Badge Parking and Controlled Streets
Newcastle City Council’s single yellow lines carry the hours of control on their kerbside signs, and the restriction covers the full width of that side of the road, including pavement and grass verge (newcastle.gov.uk). Double yellow lines prohibit parking on the road, pavement or verge at any time. Yellow kerb markings add loading restrictions: a single mark applies at the times on the sign, while double marks apply at all times.
Blue Badge holders may park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours when a valid badge and correctly set arrival clock are displayed, provided there are no yellow kerb markings (newcastle.gov.uk).
