Trafford Council defines a resident parking scheme as a system in which residents in a specific area, street, estate or geographical location must apply for a permit to park (trafford.gov.uk). A resident permit space is therefore free only for the residents authorised by that scheme, not for a general Old Trafford visitor.

The council directs motorists to its pay-or-appeal parking-fine option for a challenge, while its parking-fine contact telephone number is 0161 912 2000. A charge can therefore be paid through the council’s parking-fine process or challenged through the same authority’s appeal route.
