Parking Near Portsmouth
Free Parking at Morrisons Victory Retail Park and Portsmouth Visitor Bays
Visit Portsmouth lists the site among places where there is no charge for parking, although vehicles cannot remain without limit (visitportsmouth.co.uk).
The allowance applies to visitor parking in the relevant zone, rather than to every bay in the city. Some streets instead have limited-waiting bays or pay-and-display spaces. Portsmouth’s on-street pay-and-display charges apply from 8am to 6pm every day, at £1 per 20 minutes with a maximum two-hour stay, so those bays are not general free parking during the charging period (portsmouth.gov.uk).
Parksy Parking Near Cascades, Portsmouth Cathedral and Southsea
When free parking is occupied, Parksy lists a priced space at Cascades Shopping Centre, 154 yards away, at £5 an hour. A space near St Johns Cathedral is 227 yards away and costs £6.50 an hour. These locations provide paid options close to central Portsmouth destinations.
Parksy also lists a 24/7 space in Portsmouth, PO1, 268 yards away at £3.75 a day, and a 24/7 space near Portsmouth Cathedral, 290 yards away at £6 a day. In Southsea, Greetham Street Car Park has a 24/7 space 0.2 miles away at £12 a day. A St Luke’s Church space in Portsmouth, PO5, is 0.2 miles away and costs £4.50 an hour. The hourly spaces suit shorter stays, while the daily spaces give drivers a stated day rate for longer parking.
Portsmouth Park-and-Ride and Cheaper Council Alternatives When Free Bays Fill
Free spaces can be harder to secure during match days near Fratton Park, when Portsmouth City Council publishes separate parking options and restrictions for football-ground visitors (portsmouth.gov.uk). The council also identifies Portsmouth Park and Ride as a parking service, giving drivers a named alternative to searching for an on-street space in the centre.
Portsmouth’s council parking information separates car parks, on-street pay-and-display parking and Park and Ride, so the appropriate alternative depends on the destination and the applicable restriction (portsmouth.gov.uk). On-street pay-and-display parking costs £1 per 20 minutes from 8am to 6pm every day, with a maximum two-hour stay.
Resident Zones, Limited Waiting and Portsmouth Parking Hours
A visitor’s free stay therefore belongs to the relevant zone and its signed conditions. The council lists resident parking zones, limited-waiting areas, pay-and-display bays, taxi ranks and yellow lines as different types of parking restriction (portsmouth.gov.uk).
The Kings Area parking zone operates daily from 4.30pm to 6.30pm; its information says there is no free parking provision, permits are not valid in Albert Road limited-waiting bays, and permits are not valid in Napier (portsmouth.gov.uk). Blue Badge parking is handled separately by Portsmouth City Council, which provides dedicated Blue Badge and disabled-parking information.
Portsmouth PCN Amounts, 14-Day Payment and Challenges
Portsmouth City Council issues a £70 fine when a car blocks a dropped kerb or is parked more than 50 centimetres from the kerb. Payment within 14 days reduces that fine to £35 (portsmouth.gov.uk). The council’s parking-fines service allows a driver to pay a PCN or appeal it, and the PCN provides the relevant instructions.
A driver who challenges a Portsmouth PCN within 14 days can still pay at the discounted rate if the challenge is unsuccessful (portsmouth.gov.uk). The vehicle owner can appeal further after the council’s response, with the council’s challenge information describing up to three stages of appeal. Portsmouth’s electronic PCN payment facility requires the PCN number to begin with the letters “PO”, using the letter O rather than the number zero (ip.e-paycapita.com).
