Stepping Hill Parking Enforcement and Hospital Fine Reports

The authority’s stated concern is the effect of non-resident parking on residential streets around the hospital, while hospital measures are intended to reduce staff and visitor parking in those streets (stockport.gov.uk).
A reported Stepping Hill Hospital case involved an incorrect £70 fine, with the amount later reported as increasing to £160 after the patient paid (Manchester Evening News). That report describes an individual dispute rather than a confirmed standard penalty tariff. The reported figures show why a driver who receives hospital parking correspondence should deal with the notice through the payment or challenge route stated on that notice, rather than assuming that free local street parking removes liability on hospital land.
