Parking Near Stokesley
Free all-day parking at The Plain and College Square in Stokesley
The Plain, the large area between Stokesley Town Hall and the Manor House, provides free all-day parking for visitors to the town centre (stokesleytowncouncil.gov.uk). College Square also provides free all-day parking, with a one-way system in operation. Both areas are Manorial Land managed by the Manorial Lands Trust for the benefit of Stokesley townspeople.
Free all-day parking is also available at the western end of Stokesley town centre on the southern side of the High Street, west of Bridge Road, and around West Green (stokesleytowncouncil.gov.uk). These locations suit drivers who want to leave a car for several hours without using the North Yorkshire Council pay-and-display facility.

Stokesley High Street discs, market closures and parking enforcement
Stokesley High Street cobbled parking is limited to two hours and requires a parking disc displayed inside the vehicle (stokesleytowncouncil.gov.uk). The disc arrangement applies to the cobbled areas rather than the free all-day areas at The Plain, College Square, West Green and the western High Street.
The Farmers’ Market takes place on the first and third Saturday of each month, with occasional additional specialist markets and events also using The Plain (stokesleytowncouncil.gov.uk). Drivers heading for those markets need to use another Stokesley parking area.
Scarborough Borough Council carries out parking enforcement in Stokesley under contract to North Yorkshire Council, while North Yorkshire Council Highways Department remains responsible for yellow lines (stokesleytowncouncil.gov.uk).
Showfield Car Park for Stokesley days when free spaces are busy
The Plain is used for Stokesley’s weekly Friday Market, the Farmers’ Market on the first and third Saturday of each month, and occasional specialist markets and events, so those occasions remove the central free parking area (stokesleytowncouncil.gov.uk). College Square, West Green and the western High Street are the practical free alternatives named by the town council, although demand can make central spaces harder to find.
Showfield Car Park is the named paid alternative in Stokesley. North Yorkshire Council owns and runs the car park, which is accessed from the Stokesley Motors roundabout at the eastern edge of the town and operates as a pay-and-display site (stokesleytowncouncil.gov.uk). It is the clearest fallback when The Plain is closed for a market or when the free all-day areas are full.
The Showfield Car Park is separate from the free parking at The Plain and College Square, so drivers should not treat the council pay-and-display site as a free option.
