Parking Near Sligo Town
Free Sunday Parking and Named Sligo Town Car Parks
Sligo County Council lists free parking on Sunday in Sligo Town, giving drivers a no-charge option for Sunday visits. The council’s parking map identifies Market Yard Car Park, Cathedral, Wine Street Car Park, Quay Side Centre, Parkes Yard, Quay Street Car Park, Glasshouse and Connaughton Road as named Sligo parking locations (sligococo.ie).

Low-Cost Sligo Town Options When Free Sunday Spaces Fill
Free Sunday spaces can be difficult to secure around busy shopping periods and town events, so a paid alternative may avoid repeated circuits of central Sligo. St Anne’s Car Park is beside St Anne’s Church, Dunnes and Aldi, about an eight-minute walk from Sligo town centre, and the listed cost is €3 for the day (choosesligo.com).
Custom House Quay Car Park lists a €3 daily tariff, providing another named paid option close to the river walks, Sligo Cathedral, shops, theatres and schools (apcoa.ie).
Sligo Town Rules for Sunday and Paid Parking Spaces
Free Sunday parking in Sligo Town does not turn every restricted location into a legal parking space. Sligo County Council’s traffic and parking bye-laws cover places where parking is prohibited at all times, places restricted or prohibited at certain times, and conditions for parking (irishstatutebook.ie). A driver using a Sunday space must still comply with those location-specific restrictions.
O’Connell Street has two loading bays reserved strictly for goods vehicles, with a maximum stay of 30 minutes, and the street also includes a bus stop area (oceanfm.ie). The loading-bay rule applies to goods vehicles rather than ordinary cars. Custom House Quay Car Park says its charging and enforcement times are shown on local signage, so the operator’s site-specific signs determine when charges and enforcement apply there (apcoa.ie).
Parksy Parking at Custom House Quay for a Full Sligo Centre
Parksy lists an outdoor parking space at Custom House Quay in Sligo, 330 metres away, priced at €1.20 an hour. The space is close to the riverfront side of town and suits a driver who needs a priced place near central destinations when free Sunday parking is unavailable.
Custom House Quay Car Park is described as close to river walks, Sligo Cathedral, shops, theatres and schools, and its operator lists a €1.20 hourly tariff and a €3 daily tariff (apcoa.ie). The Parksy listing is therefore a short-walk option for visits where a driver wants a known hourly price rather than searching for an open free space.
Traffic Fines and Appeals for Parking Offences in Sligo Town
Sligo County Council describes traffic fines as Fixed Charge Notices issued for offences such as illegal parking. The council provides a dedicated online route for paying a parking fine, while its payments information gives the parking service telephone number as 071 9111 1111 (sligococo.ie).
The council’s appeal policy applies to traffic fines issued by or on behalf of Sligo County Council, including Fixed Charge Notices for illegal parking. A driver who disputes a notice can use the council’s appeal process rather than treating a Sunday parking provision as a defence to parking in a prohibited place (sligococo.ie).
