Parking Near Cheltenham
Free parking on Eldorado Road, Queens Road and Christ Church Road
Cheltenham Railway Zone 14 provides approximately 100 free long-stay spaces on parts of Eldorado Road, Queens Road and Christ Church Road (gloucestershire.gov.uk).
Zone 14 still requires drivers to register their stay before parking. Drivers can register through MiPermit, or call 0345 5051155 using the appropriate location shown on the signs on Eldorado Road, Queens Road and Christ Church Road. The telephone option is tied to the location displayed on the relevant street sign, so the registration must match the bay being used (gloucestershire.gov.uk).
Free Park and Ride parking at Arle Court and Cheltenham Racecourse
Arle Court Transport Hub offers free parking to users of the 99 and 100 services and A Park & Ride services who buy a ticket to travel. The free parking offer is linked to bus use, so Arle Court is not a general free car park for drivers leaving their vehicles without travelling (gloucestershire.gov.uk).
Cheltenham Racecourse is another Park & Ride location where parking is free for customers who use the Park & Ride bus services. Visit Cheltenham lists Arle Court and Cheltenham Racecourse as the town’s Park & Ride sites and says the locations can be used for up to 24 hours. The Racecourse option suits drivers attending town-centre destinations who can continue by bus rather than searching for a central bay (visitcheltenham.com).
A priced Parksy space near Cheltenham when free bays are full
Parksy lists a secure 24/7 parking space in Christchurch Central City, 12.8 kilometres from Cheltenham, at $3 an hour. The space suits a driver who needs continuous access outside the operating pattern of street bays or who wants a secure option instead of circling for a free space. Its 24/7 availability also fits an early arrival, late departure or stay that extends beyond ordinary daytime parking.
The Christchurch Central City space is priced rather than free, so its value depends on how long the vehicle will remain parked and whether the driver needs secure 24/7 access. At $3 an hour, a two-hour stay would cost $6 and a four-hour stay would cost $12. The 12.8-kilometre distance makes the space a fallback for drivers prepared to park away from Cheltenham’s free bays, rather than a close substitute for Zone 14 or Park & Ride parking.
Cheltenham Zone 15 hours, permits and event restrictions
Cheltenham Zone 15 has different operating times by area. North of Zone 15 operates Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, while the area closer to the town centre operates Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm. These hours determine when the zone’s parking controls apply, so a driver cannot treat every Zone 15 street as having the same free period (gloucestershire.gov.uk).
Zone 15 also has event-day restrictions in the north near Pittville Circus Road. The council also says the return restriction is now return to street. These changes mean a driver’s permission and return position depend on the particular street and its signs (gloucestershire.gov.uk).
