Parking Near Eastbourne
Free parking options around Eastbourne’s waterfront and town centre
Eastbourne’s Waterfront provides free parking in two car parks, with the first accessed from Pevensey Bay Road towards Harbour Quay (eastbournewaterfront.co.uk). These are the clearest named free off-street options for visitors heading to the marina and waterfront, rather than spaces reserved for residents, staff or customers.
Eastbourne’s council-controlled on-street bays are not generally free during their operating periods: paid and shared-use bays require a pay-and-display ticket or RingGo payment, while permit-holder-only, disabled and taxi bays have separate restrictions (eastsussex.gov.uk). The town-centre zones A, G and S operate from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, except the seafront and Wilmington Square, while seafront controls operate from 8am to 6pm Monday to Sunday. Eastbourne’s parking charges do not apply on 25 December, 26 December and 1 January.
Parksy parking near Eastbourne and Rona Beach
Parksy lists a driveway space near Rona Beach in Eastbourne, 760 metres away, at $7 a day. The space suits a visitor who wants to leave a car near the beach after Eastbourne’s free waterfront supply has filled, especially when a longer stay makes a two-hour public-space limit inconvenient.
Parksy lists a Moera outdoor parking space 7.3 kilometres away at $7 a day, and a Beach Street car park in Petone 7.5 kilometres away at $3 an hour. Those spaces are better suited to drivers willing to park farther from Eastbourne and continue by another mode, rather than to someone needing immediate waterfront access.
Eastbourne zone hours and bay restrictions that affect free parking
Eastbourne’s controlled parking areas use different operating periods by zone, so a bay can become free only when its own restriction ends. Zones A, G and S operate from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, except the seafront and Wilmington Square, which operate Monday to Sunday; zone M operates from 8am to 6pm Monday to Sunday; zone J operates from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday; zone R operates from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday; and zone B operates from 11am to 1pm Monday to Friday (eastsussex.gov.uk).
Eastbourne’s on-street signs identify whether a space is paid, shared-use, permit-holder-only, disabled or a taxi bay, and the signs state the applicable time restriction (eastsussex.gov.uk). Eastbourne’s shared-use bays are available to permit holders and paying visitors, not as general free parking. Eastbourne’s disabled bays are not general free spaces, while Eastbourne Station offers free parking to Blue Badge holders who register the vehicle and display the badge (apcoa.co.uk).
Eastbourne parking penalties, payment and challenges
Eastbourne’s council-controlled parking enforcement can issue a Penalty Charge Notice when a vehicle breaches a bay restriction, stays beyond the permitted period or parks in a restricted space.
Eastbourne’s East Sussex County Council PCNs can be paid online or by telephone on 0345 658 5500, using the PCN number and a credit or debit card (eastsussex.gov.uk). Eastbourne’s payment service requires the PCN details to be entered accurately, including the reference shown on the notice. Eastbourne drivers who believe a PCN was issued incorrectly can use the council’s challenge route rather than treating the notice as ordinary parking payment.
