Free parking at Riverside House on Milverton Hill in Leamington
Leamington drivers had access to more than 80 free bays at Riverside House on Milverton Hill during the council’s December 2025 arrangement. Warwick District Council made the Riverside House Car Park free from 1 to 28 December 2025, excluding 25 and 26 December, with use available seven days a week from 8am to 7pm (warwickdc.gov.uk).
The Riverside House Car Park was opened as an additional option while demolition work affected Covent Garden car park. The Riverside House Car Park was intended for residents and commuters during the busy festive period, and the free arrangement applied only during the stated December dates and hours. Warwick District Council describes Leamington’s other car parks as pay-and-display sites requiring a ticket on arrival, so those car parks are not general free-parking options (warwickdc.gov.uk).
Leamington’s council car parks require payment outside the Riverside House offer
Warwick District Council states that all Royal Leamington Spa car parks are pay and display. The Royal Leamington Spa car parks require drivers to buy a ticket on arrival, with payment accepted at the machine by card, through a mobile phone app, or with a season ticket (warwickdc.gov.uk).
The Royal Leamington Spa car parks are divided by the council into short-stay and long-stay categories. Drivers using a Royal Leamington Spa council car park therefore need a valid paid parking session rather than assuming that a short visit is free.
Riverside House helps when Leamington parking is busiest at Christmas
The Riverside House Car Park was provided specifically for Leamington’s busy festive period, when Christmas shoppers, visitors and businesses needed additional spaces. Warwick District Council made more than 80 bays available there from 1 to 28 December 2025, excluding 25 and 26 December, and kept the site free seven days a week from 8am to 7pm (warwickdc.gov.uk).
The council said that a section of the adjacent Covent Garden Surface Car Park was also temporarily closed for contractors’ demolition and associated works. The Riverside House Car Park therefore offered a named temporary alternative during the festive period, rather than a permanent free-parking scheme for Leamington.
The priced Parksy option is a secure garage in Hamilton for full Leamington overflow
Parksy lists a secure commercial garage parking space in Hamilton for drivers who need a priced alternative after free or council spaces in Leamington are unavailable.
