Parking Near Alameda
When Alameda’s free spaces disappear during markets and busy Park Street trips
Free evening and holiday spaces around Park Street can fill quickly when shoppers, diners, and theater visitors arrive together. The City says the Central Avenue Lot is often full and slow to navigate, and the Civic Center Parking Garage is 350 feet away from that lot, making the garage a practical fallback when surface spaces disappear (alamedaca.gov). The garage has 341 spaces and sits one block from Park Street, next to the Alameda Theatre.
Webster Street drivers should allow extra time on Tuesday and Saturday mornings because the Alameda Farmers’ Market uses the northern section of the West End Lot. The West End Lot remains a named public alternative, with entrances from Santa Clara Avenue and Haight Avenue just east of Webster Street, but market activity reduces convenient access to part of the lot (alamedaca.gov).
Alameda time limits, permits, holidays, and disability parking rules
A green curb is short-term parking for the duration shown on the sign or meter, and a blue zone is reserved for vehicles displaying a DMV-issued disability placard or license plate.
A properly displayed disability placard or license plate allows the transported placard holder to park in metered areas without payment and removes time limits at regular curb zones, but it does not override street cleaning, loading, no-parking, abandoned-vehicle, or tow-away restrictions (alamedaca.gov). Vehicles parked on Alameda streets longer than 72 hours can be marked abandoned and later towed. Alameda has one preferential parking zone near the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal, where permits are for residents of that neighborhood.
Parksy parking near Alameda’s Park Street and Civic Center areas
The structure suits drivers visiting Park Street businesses, civic institutions, or the Alameda Theatre because the City places it at 1416 Oak Street, one block from Park Street and within a 10-minute walk of nearly all Park Street businesses (alamedaca.gov).
Drivers needing a longer stay can choose Parksy’s outdoor Alameda parking space 0.8 miles away for $375 a month. Parksy also lists monthly Oakland options at $206.25 a month 1.4 miles away and $160 a month 2.5 miles away, which suit commuters willing to park outside Alameda’s busiest commercial areas.
Alameda parking citations, deadlines, and enforcement consequences
A citation must be paid or contested within 21 calendar days of issuance; after that deadline, additional fees apply and the citation can no longer be contested (alamedaca.gov).
Alameda parking citations can be paid online or by mail through pticket, and the City identifies pticket customer service at (800) 818-1832 (alamedaca.gov). Drivers can report a non-towing parking violation to (510) 522-PARK, while blocked driveways, roadway obstructions, and abandoned vehicles go to the Police non-emergency line at (510) 337-8340.
